China Spice in Yorkville is Fabulous Gourmet Chinese

Get off your duff Yorkville and patronize this place. Sometimes the best things are right under your nose.

My husband and I took a little trip to China Spice around the corner tonite. We didn't get past the fantastic  appetizers. This is not your stardard NYC Chinese restaurant. It's one cut above. I'd call it Gourmet Chineese.

The egg rolls were the best I have ever tasted. And I have eaten a lot of eggs roles in my time. The tempura shrimp were presented on a fab decorative square plate with lemon slices. They were crispy and light... perfect for a hot day. We also had the Szechuan wontons which  came in a really creamy spicy red sauce that I kept pouring on everything.

Even the chicken wings were light, crispy and the perfect size.

My husband and I are appetizer fans and I can't wait to try some more. The couple who sat next to us raved about the crab Ragooon.

Go.Try. Eat. YUM

I have found what I feel is the ultimate in Ice Cream Discoveries at my local grocery story, the KY Deli on 83rd and York Ave, I discovered the impossible. I discovered Perry's Ice Cream. Fat Fat Free, No Sugar Added, 80% Lactose Free. THIS PRODUCT IS A MODERN MIRACLE!!

AND WHAT???? Only 130 calories, You read it right. 130 calories per 1/2 cup. Per serving and there are 4 servings per container .

THAT MEANS THAT THE ENTIRE TUB is a mere 520 calories

Compare that to the best selling brand at 380 calories per half cup at 4 servings per tub which is a whopping 1520 calories

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN???? You can eat a whole tub of Perry's guilt free. It comes in chocolate and vanilla. I don't know where you can get in Manhattan except at KY. I can't find it any grocery story. So good luck maybe you can send at email to perrysicecream.com and ask where you can find it.  GOOD LUCK and GOOD EATING

MTA and Homeland Security Suggestions

WE NEED A PLAN IF THE SUBWAY GETS STALLED.

I have been on the subway when it has grinded to a halt. The messaged are vague and I have observed that a strange paranoia starts  to set in. People start to get nervous and babies start to cry.

I began to ask what were we going to do about bathroom space? What if it gets hot? What if someone passes out? Who will step up to organize the rules? How long should we wait until we decide to take action? What action do we take and in what order?

Dear MTA could you please come up with a set of rules to follow and post it on the train in case the sound system fails?

Best Grocery Store pizza at D'Agastino on 80th and York

If you are looking for an alternative to frozen pizza you won't find a better one than the homemade pizza in the cheese  section at the D'Agastino grocery store on 80th and York.

I get  half pound of mozzarella cheese , a tomato, some mushrooms to dress it up and throw it in the oven at 425 for 20-25 min. Or until the crust turns a nice brown.

The packaging doesn't do much for consumer confidence but trust me it is a fantasic  puzza with a nice fluffy crust and none of the preservative aftertaste that you find in frozen counterparts.

It is homemade at the deli. You will thank me.

Happy 4th 2013

Relaxing in Carl Schurtz Park with Henry Hall on a beautiful July 4th. I am so grateful God has taken the time to guide my way. One thing I've learned....God does not make mistakes and he certainly did not make one when this great country was born. Happy Fourth of July 2013

Usher what were you thinking?

What a disappointing musical arrangement Usher put together for the July 4th fireworks display in NYC.

And I love Usher. He is an incredibly talented man. And I am sure the opinions of others may have gotten in the way regarding the musical selection.

The music was essentially a tribute to Usher and his friends and was
devoid of any sense of American history.

Did Usher even study American musical  history?  It appears his knowledge of American music goes back only a couple of decades.

And honestly...what was up with that rendition of God Bless America??? Did they even see the original musical score?

Here is a hint for next year..google 50 best Patriotic American songs.

Sorry Usher for my humble observations.

Otherwise, the show gets 4/5  Wows.
