Debt Diet Oprah Transferring Credit Payments

Transferring your credit card balance to another credit card company

SITUATION: Your credit card company will not lower your interest rates so you are looking
for another credit card company to assume your debt. This means that the "new company" will pay the old company-- in full --for you and take over your loan. You pay them from now on.

This is like a second mortgage. Not a good idea for some...but maybe for others. The "new credit card company" that wants your business, expects you to be in bad financial trouble which means you might be late one payment.

And. if the small print of the contract reads something like this, "should you be late your offer for a zero A.P.R is null and void and your new interest rate will be set by the company".

Then you must ask yourself one serious questions that will save your butt.

Question 1. Are you completely confident that you will never be late, never just pay the minimum, and use it for small purchases?

If the answer is no, then do not transfer your debt.

If the answer is yes then this is a good option for you.

Money Saving Tips

I've got three great money saving tips for you. First call your credit card company and ask them to put a cap on your credit line. That way charges will NOT go through if your just a dollar over which can cost you an overpayment fee of at least $30.00.

The second tip isn't brought up much but will save you bundle. Technology is costing us a fortune. Take the web off your phone. With most plans you'll still be able to text and get your email but no web. That will save you upwards of five hundred dollars a year.

Third get an old TV set and a pair of bunny ears and get rid of the cable.

Best Day Trip in New York City

I have a treat for you! There is nowhere in the city where you can get this view of Manhattan, enjoy a cold draft and wiggle your toes in the sand. Visit Governor's Island this weekend.

To get there, take the 4 subway line to Bowling Green and walk toward the Staten Island Ferry. The ferry to Governor's it to the left. The boats leave every half hour on the hour and it's free and open to the public.

This Saturday the Island is hosting a Beer Garden Party with over 300 micro breweries from around the country. There will be live music and it all starts at 3:00. Don't miss this sunset!

Peter G. Pereira Art Installation

This is the "Tress of Life" art installation by artist Peter G. Pereira. He wraps the trees to tell their story, the time they have been here, and reveals their soul with his lines. This was a special exhibit through the Figment organization. I highly recommend that you take a trip to the island. Just go to the Bowling Green subway and walk to the ferry. It's all free and open to the public a great NYC getaway!!!
