Question:

Can you or your family  handle bumping into a Pirate, sidestepping a  Knight or stumbling upon an  encampment of dancing gypsies flashing  red scarves and jiggling gold bobbles they bought from the Village Vendors -one of hundreds  at your disposal?

Yes? Read on.

I think you might need a candle to light the way.  The Kamikazee Fireflies are out and about.  No worries, make one with your daughter add a little face paint, shoot a couple of rounds with your son, try fencing or crossbow, get lost in a maze a  haunted graveyard or jump on a Fair Ride.

Kiss the girls and make them smile!

I'm smelling hot fries, sizzling  chocolate dipped bacon and something sweet; cotton candy, pancakes with maple syrup for sure. The deep fried twinkies are by the Chinese food booth  next to the Taco stand, fish and chips to the left.

Can your kids spell Dragon,  Harry Potter or Time Travel? Game of Thrones perhaps? Pick a themed weekend heck pick two.

Who's that over there to your right?

A merchant is making his way through a magical land of wild Wizards, Faires  and Sprites on a carpet of  rainbows. Watch out for the Gremlins!

Where did you say that pot of gold was? I think its down the winding path through the great forest, past  the poets and musicians.  With a little luck you'll find a mischievous  Leprechaun in a moss green suit. He'll guide you to a curious little village to watch a thrilling Joust brought to you by  brave Knights ablaze with silver armor sparking in the sun atop feisty horses.

You can do all of this while your kids loose their minds all decked out in pirates costumes they can wear to the fair.

A little treat pour toi perhaps?

Hey girl,  there's shop that has that cute light blue corsette you secretly want and for you Dude a fab leather vest calls.

BANG!

Was that a canon or your family thanking you?

WAIT!

You left your buddies at the  best time-travel pub crawl ever. Such scandalous tails the Wench tells over cold beer and good cheer.  Shout out a song.  Gulp ahhh!

PS. Don't bring your dog or a sandwich. Not allowed. There is enough food and drink to feed a fussy fleet of Pirate ships Arrr!

I'd budget around $120.00 TOTAL for a family of four- entry, food and treats.  Wee ones are free.

Pub crawl is $29.00. 5 beers 5 pubs 5 stars.

See you there!

SWEET!

Screen time Damages our Kids

A study, from the University of Calgary psychologists and published today in the JAMA journal Pediatrics is right up my alley.

The technological dark age in which live is causing  developmental challenges for our children. What? Technology does not make us better? Upgrading is not  the answer to the future?

The jig is up folks. Kids 2-5 years old who engage in more screen time received worse scores in developmental screening tests. The apparent explanation is simple: when a kid is in front of a screen, they’re not talking, walking or playing, the activities during which basic skills are cultivated.

"A lot of the positive stimulation that helps kids with their physical and cognitive development comes from interactions with caregivers,” lead author Sheri Madigan said  in a University of Calgary news release. “When they’re in front of their screens, these important parent-child interactions aren’t happening.”

The paper explains:
When young children are observing screens, they may be missing important opportunities to practice and master interpersonal, motor, and communication skills. For example, when children are observing screens without an interactive or physical component, they are more sedentary and, therefore, not practicing gross motor skills, such as walking and running, which in turn may delay development in this area. Screens can also disrupt interactions with caregivers by limiting opportunities for verbal and nonverbal social exchanges, which are essential for fostering optimal growth and development.
So let's turn off our phones, take them from our toddlers hands and lead the wee ones back to the garden before AI paves over paradise and puts up a parking lot.

If we don't step in and take some responsibility for allowing technology to overrule our life force,  children will never know that paradise IS earth and that we are here to tend.

Technology is  an evolutionary nuclear bomb in the existence of mankind.
Steven Hawkins agrees.
 Poof!
Bravo Calgary!!

CNN stop with Trump already

Last night was  the first time I turned off CNN.
Hey guys there are other things going on in the world. Did you forget about the kids at the border?   The whales,  pollution in the air, government shutdown, parks?
Let Trump alone stop speculating about the Mueller report you'll see it in full soon enough  and talk about what's really going on with the country.
Redundant and boring you have become.

Stop Japan from killing whales

Call the Japanese Embassy , call your local politician yell, post, twitter do anything to make a fuss we must stop Japan from resuming whaling.

Japan this week formalized its withdrawal from the International Whaling Commission in a letter, setting the stage for its resumed killing of hundreds of whales in its coastal waters and perhaps elsewhere as well. Japan announced its departure from the IWC last month, and with the receipt of its official communique on the withdrawal, the clock now starts ticking on a one-month period during which other countries can indicate if they too wish to leave the IWC.

As a veteran of IWC politics for more than two decades, I have come to view Japan's departure as a victory of rhetoric over reason. The IWC, established in 1946 when it became clear that whale populations were in trouble, struggled to try to make whaling sustainable for many decades before announcing the global ban on commercial whaling in 1982. Japan, however, never accepted this moratorium and, for many years, continued to kill whales using the 'scientific research' loophole in the 1946 convention text — a loophole that allows countries to allocate a quota to themselves to take whales for research. The loophole was created in an era when it was perceived that countries might need to investigate some urgent matter by studying the bodies of whales post-mortem.

But science has come a long way since then, and the IWC's intention clearly was not to create a mechanism for Japan or any nation to hide or obscure the reality of a long-term commercial whaling program and catch.

In addition to its continued whaling, Japan has also tried repeatedly to overturn the moratorium. Its attacks have at times been subtle – for example trying to have new forms of whaling recognized. Other times, not so much. At the last meeting of the IWC in September Japan advanced a bundle of proposals that would have killed the global ban altogether.

Japan would like to present itself as the wounded party, forced to leave the IWC because its reasonable requests are not being listened to. But the fact is, commercial whaling is completely unnecessary; in fact, there is no pressing economic need for it and there is plummeting demand for whale meat in Japan itself.

Just as importantly, there is no way to kill whales humanely at sea, and there is no accepted international framework for the management of whaling in place. Moreover a majority of IWC member countries do not support killing whales for commercial purposes. Whales belong to no one country, they are typically highly mobile and many species are migratory. This is why the IWC's jurisdiction has always covered all waters, right up to the shoreline.

Japan's abandonment of the IWC is a calculated move that flaunts the rule of law that should bind nations as a matter of course in their relations. It's highly irresponsible behavior, and it is, in the end, simply beneath the dignity and honor of an otherwise important and conscientious ally to many in the community of nations. That's certainly our view, and it's the one we'll work to impress upon the remaining member nations of the IWC and other relevant bodies. We cannot allow one country to step outside of the IWC and recommence commercial whaling. If other countries, following Japan's example, start to do likewise, then we may see a return to the lawless days of previous centuries and the world's whales will suffer.

Saltwater Brewery saves millions of sea creatures

GET RID OF SIX PACK PLASTIC RINGS ?

Saltwater Brewery in Delray beach did just that and get this ... made them edible for sea creatures. This is stunning amazing news.

Budweiser watch and learn and if your reading this contact your favorite brewery and let them know this is possible.

Millions of seabirds, fish, and turtles eat or get trapped in six pack plastic rings and when they are eaten by larger species the plastic transferes into the hosts  system killing them as well.

Saltwater Brewery in Delray Beach is changing how it manufactures six-pack packaging rings to make them more eco-friendly. These new rings are constructed from barley and wheat ribbons saved from the brewing process. These 100 percent biodegradable and edible rings, known as E6PR, can be safely eaten by animals that come in contact with them.

They will be the only beer I will EVER drink.  Let's hope everyone else follows suit.

Congratulations, hats off and Blessings to the Delray Saltwater brewing company.

Rashida Tlaib potty mouth

Here's why Rashida Tlaib is psychologically unfit to represent her constituents and other democratics in the house ..
mainly me.
And this is why I am so determined to call her out. I will be brutal.
Since the Democrats are horrified  and shocked at Trumps language let's examine our own hypocrisy. I won't stand for this. If we hold others to the task we MUST hold ourselves.
#1. First let's look at the word itself.  If a man called a woman a motherfucker he would be verbally abusive.  Rashida Tlaib is abusive.
#2. She has used the word sassy to explain her behavior.  Sassy is a word which refers to a  little girls attitude. The real definition according to Websters  dictionary is lively, bold, and full of spirit it does not cover language it covers attitude. The word motherfucker is not sassy?  It's crude ignorant and abusive.
Am I supposed to tell my daughter that it's OK to use the word motherfucker because it's sassy ?
#3. Look at the timing of her motherfucker comment. She picked a  day after so much good will and so many historic firsts never before seen in the United States Government. Why did she not give us a day or two to enjoy the victories?
When people are inappropriate and unable to understand context they are psychologically unwell. That makes Rashida Tlaib a saboteur.
#4. She assumes that the people who voted for her accept this behavior. If  so why didn't she exhibit such language  during her campaign and really let the voters decide.  That makes her
insincere.
#5.  And here's what got me. She is unable to understand that her position makes her a role model and her words matter ( where have we heard that before). That makes her unfit.
#6. And this is what makes her dangerous and unwell. Instead of understanding that using the word motherfucker not only reflects badly on herself it reflects badly on her party, her voters and others that  look up to her she digs in her heels. And in that context she is unable to apologize. That points to character. A person who is unable to grasp the damage that their behavior had done and refuses to apologize is dangerous. She needs to resign for the greater good or be impeached.
#6. She has put her colleagues in a terrible position to look no better than the Republicans who blame Obama for everything by forcing them to make an equivalency to the Presidents use of crude language. That makes her manipulative and subversive.
#7. When Democrats were asked what they thought about the language they said, " well I would not have said that". They should have said it is unacceptable and  hypocritical and refuse to condone it.  She has made others uncomfortable and opened them up to criticism. That makes her unpredictable and dangerous.
#7. Her attitude is scarry. When interviewed she seemed to enjoy the attention with a f**-you position that was creepy and scarry. When a person digs in their heels and refuses to self'reflect they will make incorrect decisions and not to change their minds even when all facts point to the truth.  Who do we know that does that? There is nothing more threatening  then a person in power who is unable to change their mind. And that makes her unfit and a megolomaniac.
Rashida Tlaib is an undercover deep state  Repulican working to hurt and shame Democratic voters. And if she won't apologize to us how can't we expect us to trust her to vote for our best interests.
Impeach Rashida Tlaib an abusive, psychologically unfit saboteur.  Call her office email her. Let's see how much more  she gets-off in the push back. When we know that we can make a final  decision to remove her from office.
And you know if I took time away  from my book to write this I'm pissed.
Finally and most importantly. I don't care who you are if you call someone a motherfucker you need to apologize.
Unfortunately that points to the parents that raised her and if she is willing to throw them under the bus we should all watch out.
