Best Grocery Store pizza at D'Agastino on 80th and York

If you are looking for an alternative to frozen pizza you won't find a better one than the homemade pizza in the cheese  section at the D'Agastino grocery store on 80th and York.

I get  half pound of mozzarella cheese , a tomato, some mushrooms to dress it up and throw it in the oven at 425 for 20-25 min. Or until the crust turns a nice brown.

The packaging doesn't do much for consumer confidence but trust me it is a fantasic  puzza with a nice fluffy crust and none of the preservative aftertaste that you find in frozen counterparts.

It is homemade at the deli. You will thank me.

Cheap Eats Upper East Side: Dallas BBQ for $9.99 for TWO!!!

By far the Dallas BBQ has a fabulous early bird special!!! It is located on 3rd ave between 72nd and 73rd. The attraction for me in the outside seating which is really a plus for any restaurant. You will feel like a King or Queen.

And if you like fancy drinks you can indulge. For ten dollars, yes only $10.00 you can order Margaritas, Strawberry Daiquiris and a wide selection of other fruity fun get me drunk fast stuff conplete with shot.
From Monday to Thursday you can get the special on Monday till Thursdays on the weekends you have to make it before five o'clock.

This fab meal includes a small bowl of really great chicken soup, and a perfectly roasted half chicken with your choice of baked potato, rice, French Fries, and a generous piece of corn bread.

You say it right. That is nine dollars and ninety nine cents for two people ( that is not each) All this for $9.99.) to eat healthy well prepared food in an outdoor setting on the Upper East Side.
I throw in the shrimp cocktail the (small one) with extra huge shrimp and your out of there for under $30.00.

The weird thing is that Dallas BBQ does not serve desert so have a fancy drink instead. And most importantly beware Texas size portions which loosely translated means really really big.

At these prices you can afford to treat some friends to dinner. Above is a pic of my husband Peter G. Pereira enjoying his dinner at our favorite table.

Peter G. Pereira Art Installation

This is the "Tress of Life" art installation by artist Peter G. Pereira. He wraps the trees to tell their story, the time they have been here, and reveals their soul with his lines. This was a special exhibit through the Figment organization. I highly recommend that you take a trip to the island. Just go to the Bowling Green subway and walk to the ferry. It's all free and open to the public a great NYC getaway!!!

U.E.S. Hot#19 Gift Ideas Star of David

This is a great gift idea for the Holiday Season. You can purchase prints from Peter G. Pereira from the Logos Bookstore 1575 York Ave. Check out the star of David a hot, original gift idea for the season. I've included a review of the show from one of the premier art critics in NYC. The great Ed McCormick from Gallery and Studio Magazine. He's been around since the 60's coined the term "puck rock" and hung out with Warhol. He raves about Pereira in the Sept/Oct issue. I'd take him seriously if I were you.

Remember this is a local artist and these works were inspired by the Carl Shurz Park that we all love so keep it real keep it local!!!!

Local Celebrity Loves Art

Harris Healy the owner of one on the last independent bookstores in North America stands in front of his special shop to announce an art show. The show is of artist Peter G. Pereira and is in a style called "abstract surreal painting". It's a combination of photography, painting and CAD. And it was inspired by the flowers in the Carl Schurz Park!

This is what it's about folks. Keep it local...keep it real!

Peter G. Pereira Sculpture

My favorite artist had a sculpture exhibition on Governors Island this weekend. It was during a festival called "Figment" which is getting bigger and better every year. Do yourself a favour one weekend jump on the 4 Train, get to Bowling Green and catch the free ferry over to Governors Island. It's simply a magical place.

Peter G. Pereira made me look at a tree like I never looked at it before. The natural bumps and bruises became heightened as he wrapped them up in abstract swirling paintings that mimicked the age of the tree from the outside in. This was simply spectacular! The kids loved it and I hope he gets to do all of Central Park!
