Help our Dog Shelters in Florida Please

Hurricane Irma Damaged our Dog Shelter in CENTRAL FLORIDA HIGHLANDS COUNTY

The Humane Society of Highlands in Central Florida and tend to be overlooked by larger rescue groups.  After the Florida Keys, we were hit the hardest and have been declared a Disaster Zone. How can you help?

1.       We have created an Amazon Wish List:  HIGHLANDS ANIMAL CONTROL this will help all the shelters in the area.  Go to your Amazon account and search lists.

2.       There is also a Go- Fund-Me  https://www.gofundme.com/Irmadogshelters  that will be used to help us repair fencing and deliver dog food to area residents.

 

  

Our staff is exhausted, our dogs are traumatized, but just last week we got water and air-conditioning.

                      

Our Little St. Francis Sculpture Survived.

Currently, we have 75 dogs and around 50 cats in our shelter. We are working at full capacity and cannot intake anymore animals. Our biggest wish is to ship these dogs to forever homes.

Thankfully our rescued No-Name Puppies are oblivious but others are suffering.

When a dog enters the shelter, our challenge is to convince them that they are good dogs and did nothing wrong. The shock of Irma hurt, and without our regular volunteers it’s difficult to tend to their emotional needs. Our solution?  We have enlisted the puppies to work with the older dogs and they are doing an excellent job. Who can’t be cheered up by a wee one?

What I did not count on were the “Hoarders”. Just last week we found a home with over a hundred

cats. And I did not expect the intakes from the flooded Puppy Mills hidden in the back roads and  finding  cages of dogs buried in ditches stuck in the mud who were rescued by the Sheriff’s department. Some dogs had been purposely blinded so they would not run away.  We finally know where these places are located who runs them and the Sheriff’s Office can now shut them down.

We have also found dogs tied to fences and cars, their backs and legs broken from the storm.  Many people panicked could not take their animals with them and tied them up instead of letting them take their chances.  We are performing emergency triage, but without our Vet our efforts are limited.

My name is Kay Hall-Holosko and I am a just a regular person. I use my own time and resources to further my vision.  I was inspired to continue my work after Bark Magazine chose to feature me in the Xmas edition, 2017. Because of that article I gained confidence and could define my mission to go into High-Risk Rural areas, boost staff morale, kiss some dogs, hug a puppy and get them the things that they need.  Before the storm hit I secured 6000lbs of dog food as a donation to  Animal Services.  That feeds 30 dogs a day for 6 months!

NFL, Kneeling, Patriotism and Donald Trump

Kneeling nonsense reigns.

Look at it this way. In every church I have ever entered kneeling is the highest form of respect and reverence.  Mankind has been kneeling in front of God and Kings and Queens since the beginning of time. We kneel to be knighted, to be forgiven to beg for mercy.

It has nothing to do with disrespect in any culture anywhere on the planet.

Why would kneeling in front of our flag be any different? 

Dog Shelters Flooded Please Help

The dog  shelters that I sponsor are located in Central Florida. After the Florida Keys this area  was hit the hardest. Because they are located in the middle of the state they have been overlooked .
They still do not have running water or electricity and have been declared a state of emergency. FEMA has not yet reached these areas.

The kennels have been destroyed the cages flooded. Dogs and cats have been  found  terrified and traumatized,  tied to houses and cars many with broken legs.

What I didn't count on were the Puppy Mills that hide deep in the back woods flooded. We have found cages of puppies in ditches and on the road side.

Also the Hoarders whose houses have been flooded are releasing animals into the street.We found 100 cats and 43 dogs yesterday.

The Staff are overwhelmed and brave.

Yes I'm still standing. A lot of clean up required. A lot of dogs to save! People were tying their pets to cars and houses. We have picked up 50 so far.

I'm a big fan of St. Jude. He is the Patron St. of hopeless cases of things most despaired of.

For me he is the most powerful Uber coolest Saint EVER.
I don't care what anyone believes this guy listens and he can make anything happen.

I pray to him for Florida now.

I've prayed to him  many times in my life and  he has never disappointed me. And I believe that  if you pray to him he will hear you as well.

The thing about St. Jude is that if you pray to him you must promise to pay it forward and tell others about him.

Ergo, I am telling you.

Why Beached Dolphins?

Have ever wondered why hundreds of dolphins show up on our shores dead or dying?

 Underwater  missile tests  break the sonic ear drums of  whales and dolphins
and their navigation system is destroyed.

No more Goggle Maps for you!

If these systems can do that under the water imagine what they can do in the sky to the ozone.

DACA ISSUES Long Term

I do not think that the problem is with the 800,000 Dreamers. However, once they start sponsoring relatives that number of people admitted in the US could reach over 5 million.  The US economy cannot take that influx which will come around the same time when these kids become financially solvent.  

That does not count the children that they will have.

Maybe we could limit or not allow sponsorship for relatives?

Now I am off to Miami to save 300 shelter dogs.

MIKE PENCE AND KAREN PENCE BRAVO!!!'

Together they had a beautiful inspirational visit to  Texas. Karen Pence said a heartfelt prayer and it mattered. Mike picked up some trash and showed solidarity with the people of Texas.
They should be President and First Lady. Oh, wait... Maybe they will be.

DOG RESCUE TEXAS HARVEY IMPORTANT

Many people including myself are headed down for dog rescue in Texas.  I focus on first Responder rescue.

DRY DOG FOOD WON'T  WORK IN A FLOODED AREA.

U  are going to need BEEF JERKY a lot of it.

Also buy protein shakes at the health food store and mix it with the dogs water when meals get low.
And any other foods that you can't think of that DO NOT need refrigeration. SPAM will work. Don't get me wrong I love spam but canned meat works for dogs and their humans. You will get hungry too.

Watch for accidents the dogs will be traumatized AND may have diarrhea.

Get some DEPENDS . Really. It is hard to transport a dog with diarrhea.

Finally Please bring muzzles. A traumatized dog can be dangerous.

Tons of absorbent car wash towels.
Regular towels will get wet and moldy.

FIRST AID KIT.
GO Phones in plastic baggies.
fully charged extra batteries

The reason people are dying in their cars is because the electric windows lock shut when the computer fries from the rain. This is what they are NOT telling us.

Mexico Offers to Help Texas

The Mexican government reached out to the Texas Governor today and offered to help them with the disaster in anyway they can.  Very classy since Trump continues to shit on them.

Beautiful  Oprah has found Magic Mushrooms

Who thought of this?

 Aside from the fact that the  O magazine is too expensive for me... what keeps me from buying it off the Newsstand is the cover.  It's a little weird that Oprah graces every one and has the same "happy happy" smile on her face ALWAYS.  I have kept silent largely due to the fact that this women is a Guru and has changed my life in ways I never thought possible. I also know she's sensitive to criticism but she has  a great sense of humor so I'd like to think of this as a cute observation.

OPRAH is "Showing up for Life!" dressed like a Crazy Lady

Stop for a moment and take a look at the Uber hypo-Manic cover. Rest asured if I arrived at my psychiatrist''s office announcing that I was "showing up for life" wearing that outfit he'd up my medication. He might even make a phone call or two.

Let's explore the semiology of this photo and I will  explain why it's bad on so many levels.   Look at her eyes. Notice anything?
Because of the truckloads of mascara they look like alien eyes. Creepy 

And look at the outfit.  Please fire your stylist Oprah!

In this photo narrative, we are supposed to believe that  Oprah has just picked every flower that grows in her garden and has "Shown up for Life".

Judging from the sun it seems like the picture was taken around noon.  It  is clearly hot outside because it's not quite Fall . But Oprah is ready for the season change because despite the heat she is wearing a heavy sweater in a  dull purple grey that looks like it's been overused. Oprah. Why are you wearing this heavy sweater?

And lets look at the "elephant "in the room, the piece de résistance , the "Crazy Lady" skirt.  Oprah, what are you doing running around trippping over a pink sparkly skirt that drags sloppily on the ground picking way too many flowers in a garden that has only bushes? The skirt is just plain nuts.

Did she find some magic mushrooms among the flowers?

We are supposed to believe  that Oprah shows up in the garden in her Manic Mushroom Outfit and begins to search for flowers ripping them out of the ground with her squeaky clean hands  and places them in a wooden basket.

And if that were not enough please look at the boots. On this hot spring day while Oprah is searching for wildflowers  tripping over  her sparkly pick skirt  she decides to put on a pair of ugly green  rain boots. But these are not  just any boots. On this bright sunny day in which the grass is as dry as a bone she chooses to wear rubber boots. Yep!  Rubber boots which everyone knows get  hot and sweaty in the rain never mind the hot sun.




ILike I said it's  a Magic mushroom day in the garden with Oprah!  Bring on the men in white and whatever you do don't try this at home...or anywhere. You will not be showing up for life you'll be showing up for medication.

Happy 76th day birthday Bert!

This morning Bert was born between 7 and 8 am in the morning.
The blue markings signify that he is a Baby Boy!
I did not see him emerge but found him hanging from the dill weed plant in my kitchen drying his wings. I took him outside in a really funky showbox, and let him rest until he got up and flew away.
I will miss my Bert.

Not only that... but the bananas on my Banana Plant are ready to be picked today.
Not only that... but yesterday I started a 21 day meditation series with Deepak Chopra and Oprah Winfrey. The meditation was called "Who and I- I am my Desire".

Am  I a butterfly?

The meditation today is called Empower me! (You can still join!! Just go to the Deepak Chopra web site).

This experience has been magical, wondrous and I am truely blessed.

But this is not over. 

What more could be instore for me on this Uber symbolic day.

P.S. For the last 76 days I have been photographing Bert's progress and the same time photographing the banana plant growing Bananas in my backyard. Great Book, great Art Show on the way.  See you soon.

P.S.S. Not only that....but yesterday my charity "Boots on the Ground", made contact with an Animal Shelter that is in dire need of the Basics. Think food, bleach, and water.  I will have an Amazon wish list set up this week, if you would be so kind and buy a couple of blankets or dog treats I would be so grateful.

Bert

Bert is born!!! 76th day!!!!!

Bert my little caterpillar was born between 7 and 8 am this morning.
I thought that this was a private and sacred time so I didn't want to film it.
But when I awoke Bert was hanging upside down on his loyal Dill Weed plant drying his wings.I cannot figure out how he got out of his little tomb.
I put him in a box and in about half and hour he was ready to go.
I know he is a boy because of the blue spots on his wings.
Oh. I forgot to mention that the bananas are ripe and ready to pick today! They started growing the day Bert entered his sarcophagus. Life. The day, today.Will I fly away?

I will miss my little Egyptian mummy Bert. Blessings Bert and happy journeys!!!!!😚💜🎵🎀🎉

Bert the Caterpillar Turns 74 days old.

It's Bert the Caterpillars 74th day birthday today !!!!!!

 

This is what Bert looked like when he was 21 days old. His favorite food was the Dill Weed Plant I kept on the counter in my Kitchen. Berts has eaten two plants so far and I only have one left in the garden. Will Bert eat me out of house and home?

Then one day Bert bowed his little head and began to make a wooden tomb so he could hopefully become a butterfly.

My little Bert is beginning to grow little spikey horns on his back. If you look closer at the two pictures you will see them.
AND more good news! Bert moved to drink some water. It's the weirdest thing. My little twig- Bert encased in his wooden Sarcophagus drinks and jumps like silly puddy. The teeny silk strands hold his body in place.
It is mind blowing (at least in my limited mind) to see something that is understood to be immobile suddenly become mobile and move with such grace. Definitly a Mind Warp.

I wonder, with all our techology if we should try to duplicate the strength of little Bert's  strands?

Meanwhile at the same time the banana plant in my backyard has drooped from the weight of the bananas and has laid itself on the ground like a big bird leg. Is it possible that when the bananas ripen enough for me to make banana bread that Bert will emerge a beautiful Swallow Tail butterfly?
